The Heart Behind Pink Magnolia Boutique & Co.
By Ashley Garza
At just 22 years old, I took a leap of faith and opened Pink Magnolia Boutique & Co.
Owning a boutique has always been a lifelong dream of mine. Ever since I was young, I would envision the layout of my future store, imagining the experience I wanted to create and the products I would offer to my customers.
The name Pink Magnolia Boutique & Co. is deeply personal and a tribute to the two people who helped shape me: my grandparents, lovingly known as Nani and Popo.
-
Magnolia represents my grandmother’s love for magnolia trees and plants.
-
Pink symbolizes my grandfather’s tribute to his mother, who passed away after her brave battle with breast cancer.
If it weren’t for Nani and Popo — for their unconditional love, their unwavering support, and the values they instilled in me — this boutique would still be just a dream. They raised me with strength, compassion, and the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.
One of my fondest memories is of them ALWAYS encouraging my creativity. Whether it was building a DIY project or crafting something new, Nani would say, “Let’s go to the store and get the supplies,” while Popo would jump right in to helping me design and bring it to life. Every idea I had was met with enthusiasm and support. Their philosophy was always:
“If it’s something you want to do, go for it — you won’t know unless you try.”
Their excitement and encouragement were just as strong when I shared my dream of starting a boutique. They told me to do my research and take the necessary steps, but they never doubted me for a second.
Today, Pink Magnolia Boutique & Co. continues to be a family-run business, built with love and supported by the helping hands of my mother, my boyfriend, and other family members who assist me at local markets. With their help and the spirit of my grandparents guiding me, we are well on our way to reaching new milestones.
This boutique will always be dedicated to Nani and Popo — not only for their lasting influence on my life but also in memory of their recent passing. Losing them has been incredibly difficult, but I find peace and strength in knowing that their legacy lives on through this business.
I love and miss you both more than words can express. Thank you for believing in me.
With all my heart,
Ashley Garza
